The calculator OVERRIDES human brain and logical mathematical rules.. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! SO STICK STRAIGHT!
Let me elaborate.
Today I got my maths test back. There was a very simple 1 mark qs.
-4 squared minus 18. (or : -4^2 -18) if you understand what I trying to say here.
Alright. So what do you work out first?
-4 squared. OF COURSE!
Answer should be 16 rite? My maths Teacher begs to differ.
He believes its -16 cos the calculator says so.
HOW CAN HE BELIEVE A PIECE OF MACHINE AND NOT ME, THE SINGAPOREAN MATHS-EDUCATED STUDENT?!!!!
Previously MR HENRY LOWS A. MATHS STUDENT
(who unfortunately, failed with a big fat 'F' - SSSHHH. don't tell anybody)
And so I argued relentlessly for almost 1 HOUR!
"Mr X, the final answer is supposed to be -2, not -34"
"but my answer key says -34. What does the calculator say?"
"If I type it in with the brackets ard the -4, it comes out with 16.BUT LOGICALLY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE 16"
"Alright, I will check with the HOD about this problem and I'll get back to you later."
"WHAT THE F****** HELL DID U LEARN IN SCHOOL?! HOW COULD THEY HAVE ALLOWED SUCH A BEEP BEEP BEEP LIKE YOU BECOME A MATHS TEACHER AT A HIGH SCHOOL???!!! I TELL YOU, I AM RIGHT! ITS 16!!!!"
Alright, its only true up till the check with the HOD bit. I didnt say the last bit. Im a good girl. Smart as well :)
So now he will check with the HOD if -2 is an acceptable answer. SHEESH.
U know how pathetic this is, its like me saying:
"1+1=2"
Mr X: " no, the calculator/answer key states that 1+1=3"
WHAT THE FREAK?! Yes its so pathetic. So my brain and pure logic is wrong la?! So whatever I was taught in Singapore is wrong? Are you implying that? I know Im asian but I AINT DUMB.
On second thought, no, ASIANS AINT DUMB IN THE FIRST PLACE! (I take that back.my deepest apologies)
A maths teacher telling me this. I think I should be the one standing up there teaching the class instead. Who knows what wierd alien mathematical techniques from goodness-knows which planet hes imparting to us, such innocent kids (ok, we're 16) Even the other maths teachers says that -4 squared is positive number. So why can't you just give me the mark?!
Anyway, on the not so serious side...
Today has been sucha a drama-mama day. Gosh, D******* (no revealing names here to protect privacy but this person is a school friend) stole my precious handphone and ran away with it in the library and hid it, trying to piss me off. I didn't give in to her playfulness. So she proceeded to return it to me.
BOY SHE DID SO PISS ME OFF WHEN I SAW WHERE SHE PUT IT.
Apparently she stuck it into her skirt. between the hips and the skirt waist bit, So its hidden beneath the shirt which is untucked.
It F***** slipped down into the skirt, the you-know-where-somewhere-around-there bit! -_-
ARGGHHH!!! MY HANDPHONE BABY!! MY PRECIOUS COMMUNICATION DEVICE! MY DARLING MY LIFE MY ONLY MATERIALISTIC ASSET MY COMPANION MY EVERYTHING!!!
IT TOUCHED IT TOUCHED IT TOUCHED!!!
I took my darling back with open fingers, FINGERS. Get that right. COOTIESS =/
I am going to dry-clean my sweetie-pie at the best mobile phone dry cleaner Perth has to offer (if one even exists..-_-)
Oh don't you worry my beautiful Nokia 6230. Reena loves you loads.
"OH MY GAWSH! ITS NOT CLEANED UP YET!!"
Reena screams....
*sigh*
