Why You Should FIREFOX!

Now playing: Timbaland - The Way I Are (Remix) feat. Francisco & Keri Hilson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, I want to ask you a question.

How many of you are viewing my blog on IE (Internet Explorer)?

OMG YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. GO SIT IN THE NAUGHTY CORNER.

In case you have been living underneath a smelly rock since the Stone Ages (or you work for Microsoft) , let me introduce you to the world of MOZILLA FIREFOX - the best and funkiest web browser.

I won't claim to be a super whiz at computer technicalities and I honestly dont think I am a whiz anyway, but here I will breifly explain why I believe EVERY EFFING INTERNET USER SHOULD USE FIREFOX AND NOT IE. No reason for all you computer-unfluent to say you didnt use it cos dont understand it after reading this. I AM A WOMAN ON A MISSION! And also, since this is coming from a chicks understanding, all you bimbos out there have no reason to use IE too, cos I am explaining it from a girls POV.

Mozilla Firefox is a free web browser (like Internet Explorer) created (in simple terms), by common people interested in computery things. It differs from Internet Explorer in the way that it is OPEN SOURCE.

You ask, what is open source?

Open source is defined as a developement methodology in which the source, the coding of the program, is open and available to anyone and everyone.

To put it into an analogy, its like Subway cookies having their recipe available to everyone so we know how to make it, whats in it and why it tastes so orgasmically amazing.

PS: No. I do not know Subways cookie recipes. They come frozen in boxes for us to bake. So dont bother asking me for the recipe. If I knew the recipe, I would have opened a shop selling them and making millions of $$

So, how does this open source thing apply to Firefox? Basically The coding to this amazing web browser is available to anyone (I assume) to tweak, refine, improve and recreate. If Subways cookie recipe was available to proffesional chefs, Im sure someone could add something to it to make it taste even better.

You may be thinking now that wouldnt people be able to add dodgy things like viruses or whatever crap shit to it and screw everyone up. But like all things in life, it pays to CC.....

or Cover your Ca chng (hokkien dialect for 'ass') as its more infamously known to stand for.

From my knowledge, every new addition and modification to FF is checked over by experts before being incorporated into new versions of FF to be released to the public. - bottom line, its checked!

So no worries ^^

The problem with IE is that it is well, closed source. It is wholly managed by one central body (Microsoft) and thus has the entire responsibility of overseeing the development of the program, cos well, nobody can get to it anyway. If the boss of the plant that produces Subway cookies didnt let his successor know that the cookies cud be better if we added alchohol to them, the cookies would remain the same all the time right? right? =D

Ok, so stuffy terminology aside, from a USER point of view, what is it about this browser that I love so much?

For all you control freaks and people who just want to be different, Firefox is customisable with a myriad of themes! =D Because my new updated version of FF is only very very recent, my favourite themes werent updated enough to be compatible with this verison of FF but nevermind!

I used to have PINK themes, Pimp themes (SOLID GOLD SCROLL BARS!) and this EXTREMELY cute orange japanese foxy print theme! Of coure, the guys arent spared, what with fire, gaming and glossy themes at their disposal.

Pimp theme

Im currently using a sleek glossy black facade. - SEXAYE!

Secondly, omg the ADD ONS! I have the Google, Technorati and Wikipedia toolbar all in one convenient place. When I hover over the tabs, I get a tiny pop up window showing me a preview of whats in the tab and one of the best (at the moment) is my on-browser music controls!

Its located in the bottom right corner and allows me to control my music without opening up my iTunes. It is compatible with WMP, RealPlayer, XBOX MEDIA PLAYER EVEN! the total list almsot pretty much covers every single possible media player out there - THERES 30 CHOICES YOU CANT MISS OUT.

The browser is also much more safer than IE. Because it has yet to gain as much a market as IE, it isnt very much targeted by hackers who dont see it much worth to try hacking it. Besides, Firefox has plenty of safety measures to help protect you in the meantime. MUCH MUCH LESS CHANCE OF VIRUSES TOO.

Firefox is available in 45 languages, so even your monolingual grandparent who can only read chinese/japanese/french, or your Frisian (wherever and whatever that is!) friend can join the masses of happy internet users too!

This is only the starting and Im pretty sure Im heading back to get more add ons and fully customize MY internet browser to MY life. =)
